On Monday, New Jersey Italian Heritage Commissioners met with New Jersey’s Commissioner of Education David Hespe and Chief Academic Officer Kimberly Harrington to discuss how the NJ DOE can contribute to NJIHC’s 2016 initiatives. Also in attendance were representatives from Ocean County Community College (OCC) and the Honorable Andrea Canepari, Consul General of Italy in Philadelphia.

NJIHC is working with OCC to organize campus presentations promoting Italian Heritage. The Commission is committed to producing public educational programs, but also promotes and publicizes cultural activities sponsored by New Jersey’s numerous Italian organizations. The Philadelphia Consolate has jurisdiction over several counties in South Jersey and is likewise committed to sponsoring cultural events. The 2015 edition of their annual Ciao Philadelphia was comprised of daily events throughout October including concerts, film screenings, food celebrations, lectures, Italian race cars…

Information about Ciao Philadelphia 2016 events will be made available on the official website(ciaophiladelphia.com) Those events occuring in New Jersey will also be publicized on the Commission’s NJ Italian Event Calendar (njitalianheritage.org/event).
