Join me as we explore & enjoy my favorite dances!! Every Thursday in May I’ll be teaching a class of Southern Italian Folk Dance – a one and a half hour session of instruction on the lively folk dance traditions of Southern Italy, examining the rhythms and steps of traditional dances and their variations, such as the Tarantella, from different regions in Southern Italy as well as a brief overview of their history and a short review of the dance covered in the previous week. The dances are drawn from celebratory traditions evoking a sense of community. Students can explore a culture, reconnect to their roots, enjoy movement and have fun in a social environment.
