Join us for a screening of Ma che bella sorpresa (What a lovely surprise, 2015). Directed by Alessandro Genovesi, this romantic comedy tells the story of Guido (Claudio Bisio) a romantic dreamer from Milan and a professor of literature at a High School in Naples. His life is shattered when his girlfriend with whom he has lived for years, dumps him for another man. Paolo (Frank Melano) an ex student, who is now a physical education teacher and his best friend tries everything to comfort him.
Life for Guido begins to look up again when he meets the new neighbor Silvia (Chiara Baschetti). Silvia is very beautiful, she is a fan of his soccer team, cleans the house in her lingerie and she appreciates Guido and all the little romantic gestures he loves doing for her. She is the perfect woman! The only problem is, does the perfect woman exist…?

This is the question that Paolo and Guido’s very northern Italian parents try to find out when they visit him in Naples. This is also the problem facing Giada (Valentina Lodovini) another neighbor who is secretly in love with Guido.

All events are offered free of charge by the Dorothea van Dyke McLane Association to anyone in the community with an interest in Italian culture. Programs are followed by informal get-togethers where one can chat with old and new friends, and taste dishes and offerings brought by participants.

There is no reception after a movie, however a few people usually get together at a local restaurant or coffee shop. All movies are in Italian with English subtitles.
