“Strengthening Italian Studies Summit: GetOnTheMap!” is scheduled for October 28th from 2 to 5pm in the Rutgers College Avenue Student Center. The Summit will be an educational and entertaining afternoon, wherein guests will learn effective marketing and PR strategies for reversing declining student enrollment in Italian Studies.
Scheduled Media Experts Include: Silvio Laccetti, director of the Silvio Laccetti Foundation; Patti Grunther, director of the Italian Immersion Summer Program; David Cavaliere, editor-in-chief of the Italian Tribune, and Andre DiMino, director of communications at the Italian-American One Voice Coalition.

The annual Columbus Day weekend Italian Festival returns to Seaside Heights from Friday, October 5th through Sunday, October 7th with the 27th Annual Ocean County Columbus Day Parade on Sunday. The festival takes place along Grant Ave in Seaside Heights, between Ocean Terrace and W Central Ave, and features delicious food and Italian specialties, craft and merchandise vendors, and entertainment.

Loredana Polezzi (Prof. of Translation Studies at Cardiff University, UK) uses the ‘Italian case’ for a broader rethinking of key notions such as ‘fluency’, ‘native speaker’ and ‘mother tongue’ across various languages. Join her for an engaging lecture filled with examples taken from popular music, translingual writing and the visual arts.
